The last week of April is upon us and brings lots of new things to do around Vancouver. From Party for the Planet to the Vancouver Warriors, Richmond Night Market and more, here are 20 things to keep you busy this week.

Party for the Planet 2022

Party for the Planet, Surrey

What: The City of Surrey will host the 11th Annual Party for the Planet at the Surrey Civic Plaza, presented by TD, on Saturday 30 April. As in previous years, Party for the Planet will be packed with entertainment and activities for the whole family. The best part is that it’s free and a short walk from the Surrey Central SkyTrain station.

BC Sikh Heritage Month – Gurdwara Tour & Shastar Exhibit

What: This SHBC event is an opportunity to visit a local gurdwara and discover the importance he has for the members of the Sikh faith. SHBC representatives will guide visitors through the experience and answer any questions that might arise. Guests are invited to participate in langar, a free communal meal, during the event. Then they can explore the Shastar exhibition to know more about historical Sikh artifacts.

Vancouver Fleet Weekend

What: Vancouver Fleet Weekend 2022 hosted by the Royal Canadian Navy and Maritime Forces Pacific will feature a variety of water activities including ship tours, boat rides and exhibits. The Chilliwack Tulip Festival

What: The Chilliwack Tulip Festival is the province’s largest flower festival. There will be over 20 acres of 30 varieties of tulips this season. Each type of tulip can bloom at a different time, so expect different fields to bloom at different times. There are also 15 different kinds of daffodils with over nine million bulbs this year.

While you’re there, you can also play lawn games, visit the rotating food trucks, and drop by The Farm Shop to buy treats, tulips, gardening supplies, and more.

BC NFT

What: Crypto art crosses over into the real world when top NFT artists gather in Vancouver in May for a special art panel and party. NFT BC, presented by Simkin Artist Management, will perform at the Hollywood Theater in Kitsilano on Sunday, May 1.

During panel discussions, guests will hear from some of NFT’s top talent and experience a curated selection of local artwork on display at the Hollywood Theater.

Pop-up medieval tavern

What: If you’ve ever wondered what it could be like to dine like a king and be entertained by a court jester, while enjoying medieval-inspired dishes, now’s your chance.

Bloom in South Granville

What: Several stores south of Granville have transformed their storefronts into floral art installations, creating a not-to-be-missed spring stroll. Now on display in front of 10 local businesses, the beautiful creations are part of the South Granville Business Improvement Association’s (SGBIA) Bloom.

The seasonal celebration also includes spring-themed menu items at neighborhood locations, as well as a chance to win a $200 gift card for the South Granville business of your choice as part of a Instagram photo contest.

What: GROWING FREEDOM: Instructions from Yoko Ono and The art of John and Yoko at the Vancouver Art Gallery highlights the importance of imagination and participation in the work of Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Inside the gallery, educational exhibits can be as simple as an exercise in the imagination printed on the walls and putting a literal bag over your head. The second part of the exhibition explores other works and focuses on the Canadian connections of Yoko Ono and John Lennon, including their encounter with Pierre Trudeau and the Montreal bed-in.
