An 18-year-old intoxicated man was arrested on Monday, the BEI said in a statement, after being involved in a collision with vehicles parked on rue Magloire.

The BEI said the man, apparently in a mental health crisis, allegedly assaulted at least one local resident and attempted to attack a firefighter’s first responder before police arrived.

The statement said the man collapsed to the ground before being handcuffed by police. An ambulance transported him to hospital, where he was in stable condition.

A parallel investigation into the arrest has been entrusted to the major crimes division of the Sûreté du Québec, which will support the BEI.
