Canadians cancel training and place Artturi Lehkonen on COVID list
The NHL also postponed three games this weekend due to COVID-19 issues: the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, the Maple Leafs vs. the Seattle Kraken on Sunday, and the Arizona Coyotes vs. the Canucks on Sunday.
On Friday, the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers saw their games postponed during the holiday break.
There have been 29 NHL games postponed this season due to COVID-19.
The AHL announced on Saturday morning that the Laval Rocket’s game against the Crunch in Syracuse on Saturday night was postponed due to the league’s COVID protocol affecting the Crunch.
The NHL and NHLPA also announced on Saturday the immediate adoption of improved COVID-19 measures that will remain in effect during the holiday season and the New Year and will be reassessed no later than January 7.
The league will revert to preventative measures in line with last year’s protocols for all players and all members of the club’s travel group.
Wearing a mask will be compulsory at all times inside the club facilities and while traveling, including on buses, planes and at the hotel (unless exercising, participating in a game , eat or drink). There will also be daily COVID-19 tests for all club members and the travel party. Additional pre-game testing may be implemented, on a case-by-case basis, when a COVID outbreak occurs within a team.
