Ottawa opened the season with a two-game winning streak after beating Baker University for the fourth time in a row, 91-80, Wednesday night at the Collins Gymnasium. OU shot 51.7% from the ground, 25% from behind the 3-point line and 69.4% from the free throw line.

In two games, the Braves have averaged 95 points, 41.5 rebounds and 15 assists per game. Ottawa shoots 55.6% from the ground, 37.3% from behind the 3-point line and 68.9% from the free throw line.

Ottawa is ranked 20th in the NAIA for points per game (95), 23rd for baskets scored per game (35), 14th for percentage of baskets scored (0.556), 54th for baskets scored at 3 points per game (9 , 5), 47th for free throws per game (15.5), 52nd for free throws attempted per game (22.5), 11th for defensive rebounds per game (35.5), 39th for interceptions by match (10.5) and 24th for the opponent’s field goal at 3 percentage points (0.220).

Saturday’s competition is the third meeting between the University of Ottawa and Kansas Christian College. The Braves lead the series 2-0. The first meeting was held on November 9, 2019 at Wilson Field House. OU won the match 89-65. Ottawa won last year’s game on January 9, 2021, 101-53 at Wilson Field House.

In the win over Kansas Christian last season, Ottawa shot 52.8% from the ground, 37.9% behind the 3-point line and 70% from the free throw line. Jaquan Daniels led the Braves with 22 points. He also had three interceptions.

University of Ottawa men’s basketball players Jaquan Daniels and Perry Carroll have been named to the 2021-2022 KCAC men’s basketball preseason team, it was announced Friday afternoon. This is the second consecutive season Daniels has been named to the squad.

Kansas Christian College is 1-0 in 2021-22 with a 101-83 victory over Union College on October 25. The Falcons have played five consecutive exhibition games and lost to MidAmerica Nazarene University (October 27) 101-64, Sterling College (October 28) 87-82, Baker University (November 1) 87-80, McPherson College (November 3 ) 92-79 and University of Saint Mary (November 5) 80-66.

The Falcons are led in scoring (24) and rebounds per game (8) by Jouvens Hyacinthe. Jackson Hall leads the KCC in assists per game (6) and Jahreese Jordan leads the team in interceptions per game (3).

In Friday night’s loss to Saint Mary’s University at Leavenworth, the Falcons shot 37% from the ground, 22.7% from behind the 3-point line and 77.8% from the free throw line. Jahreese Jordan led the team with 18 points, Vince Smith scored 16 points and Jouvens Hyacinthe came off the bench to score 10 points.

Vince Smith went 10 for 12 from the free throw line in the loss to the Spiers.

The Falcons finished the game against the Spiers with 15 interceptions. USM turned the ball over 21 times against KCC.
