In the wake of a 1-1 draw Thursday night, the Braves travel to Baldwin City, Kan. for their first road game of the season against Baker University on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Braves are aiming for their first win over the Wildcats, holding a 0-7 record. The teams last met in 2017, when Ottawa lost 6-2. The Wildcats shut out the Braves in four of those seven losses.

The University of Ottawa is looking to win its first opener since losing Manhattan Christian College on September 1, 2010.

In the season opener against Dordt, Jonathan Rawayo scored the Braves’ lone goal. Rawyo is tied for second in scoring with the Braves last season. Gage Powers made six saves in the double-overtime draw, which included a saving block in the dying minutes of second overtime.

The Braves will be deprived of the services of senior defender Angel Ramirez, who received a red card in the dying moments of the game against Dordt.

Baker University is coached by Nate Houser, who is in his 14th season with the Wildcats. Baker finished 6-9-0 (6-6 HAAC) last season. Their top scorer, Hunter French, returns to the front row. He scored four goals a season ago. It’s the start of the Wildcats season.

The Heart of America Athletic Conference picked Baker to finish sixth this season in their 2021 preseason coaching poll.
