Ottawa’s newest tallest building planned overlooking Dows Lake and Little Italy
OTTAWA – A 60-story building may soon overlook Little Italy, Dows Lake and the Ottawa Hospital’s new Civic Campus home, across from the capital’s current tallest building.
Com. Riley Brockington announced on Twitter that a plan has been submitted to build Ottawa’s tallest tower at 829 Carling Avenue on Preston Street.
The site is the current location of a CIBC branch.
The 60-story tower would be built across from the Claridge Icon building at 505 Preston Street, which has 45 floors.
Brockington says the Ottawa Planning Department has notified the public of an official plan change, zoning, and site plan request for the construction of the 459-unit tower. There would be 385 parking spaces for vehicles and 230 spaces for bicycles.
The Ottawa Hospital’s new $ 2.8 billion Civic Campus will be built on federal land between Dows Lake and the Central Experimental Farm.
