Police arson unit investigating three early morning fires in the city center

Ottawa Police are investigating after fires started early Thursday morning at three nearby downtown properties.

The force’s arson unit has resumed the investigation, police said, although no further information was provided.
It was a busy morning for the Ottawa Fire Department, with firefighters dealing with three separate fires within blocks of each other in the heart of the city.
The first fire was reported at 4:50 a.m. at a property in the 100 block of Cambridge Street North. About half an hour later, at 5:20 a.m., another fire was reported in the 600 block of Somerset Street West.
No injuries were reported, but two people were displaced in the fires.
Finally, a fire was reported at a location on the 500 block of Lisgar Street shortly after at 5:35 a.m.
Again, no injuries were reported in this fire.
From east to west, the three locations were a little over a kilometer apart.
